Get access to a caBIG® compatible development environments today! Simply subscribe to one of our managed hosting developer solutions and you are ready to begin work.

Our caBIG® Developer Packages are designed for individuals or organizations who want to develop software for caBIG® or modify existing caBIG® software but do not want to buy and manage hardware systems or install complex middleware and database software to do so. Our managed hosting solutions are a cost effective alternative to owning and maintaining a development environment at your home institution. It takes specialized skills, time, and money to build and support these development environments.  The developers with whom we work would rather work implementing their new ideas than spend time installing and maintaining system software.  If you are looking to develop a new applications or data services or modifying an existing caBIG® application this solution can save you time and money.  In this package, we provide:

  • Pre-configured middleware and virtual machine
  • All the maintenance required to keep the development environment up to date. This includes patching and upgrading of all software in the stack.
  • Daily incremental backups of your work and weekly full backups of user account home directories and code repository contents so your hard work will be protected.
  • Daily snapshots of your VM - up to 3 generations.  If you or someone on your team renders your machine inoperative, we can turn the clock back for you by 24, 48, or 72 hours.  (We know you and your team will never need this service but we offer it to our other customers, so we felt we should at least tell you about it.)

Developer Platform: This platform provides a place to upload your new code for user feedback in an iterative development process, for user acceptance testing, or even limited pilots.  It will also support staging and testing for a new caCore generated data service.  It includes the basics: a database (MySQL), and webserver (Apache), an application server (Tomcat) and a code repository for you to upload your work in progress for safe keeping.  If you have a team of developers, they can use the code repository to share and integrate code.

Options:

  • We can provide and support any of the variants of the Windows Server Operating systems, however, there will be an additional charge for the 1 year license that is not refundable. All Microsoft licensing terms and conditions will apply.
  • We can provide Virtual Machines of varying size and complexity. Cluster solutions are also available but require a design specification. Call for cluster solutions and our engineers will assist you in meeting your goals.
